In 2025, the McMichael worked with 128 students from four classes within two schools across the York Region District School Board. From January through March students met once a week, working with McMichael Educators, Volunteers and artists Sandra Brewster and Moises Frank.

For the final session, the McMichael team travelled to participating schools where the V.O.I.C.E.S students led their peers through a Signature Studio program. 287 students from 10 classes participated in the final session of the program.

Artwork created by participants during the program can be seen below. This project encouraged students to look closely at the artwork of contemporary artist Sandra Brewster and explore and photograph nature either at the McMichael or in their own neighbourhood in search of interesting objects and patterns. Students were asked to use a portion of their photos in a mixed media piece of art where they photo transferred their image onto wood panel and used acrylic paint, and markers to complete a personal landscape of their choice. Some students have included an artist’s statement to accompany their work, guiding the viewer to a greater understanding of the thought process behind their creation.
